For many centuries essential oils and other aromatics were used for religious rituals, the treatment of illness and other physical and spiritual needs. .Essential oils for Holy anointing and spiritually uplifting is.

Frankincense known as a cure-all, elevate spiritual consciousness and embraces God's image in us.

Hyssop known for spiritually cleansing, purification from sin, and to repel evil spirits ( during the Passover, the Israelites struck the posts lintels of their doorways with an branch of hyssop releasing its aromatic oils, along with the lamb's blood, as protection from the death angel.)

Cedar wood known for cleansing of lepers, ritual cleansing after touching a dead body or anything else considered "unclean" embalming and ritual cleansing from evil spirits.

Myrtle known for religious ceremony and purification from ritual uncleanness.

There are over 200 references to aromatics, and ointments throughout the Old and New Testaments of the Bible. In Exodus, the Lord gave the following recipe to Moses for a holy anointing oil:

Myrrh "five hundred shekels" (about 1 gallon)

Cinnamon "two hundred and fifty shekels"

Calamus "two hundred and fifty shekels"

Cassie "an hin" (about 13 gallons)

Psalms 133:2 speaks of the sweetness of brethren dwelling together in unity "It is like the predious ointment upon the head, that ran down the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments.

Another scripture that refers to anointing and the overflowing abundance of precious oils is Ecclesiastes 9:8 "Let thy garments be always white: and let thy head lack no ointment."

The Bible also list an incident where an incense offering by Aaron stopped a plague. Numbers16:46-50 records that Moses instructed Aaron to take a censer, add burning coals and incense and to "go quickly into the congregation to make an atonement for them: for there is a wrath gone out from the Lord; "the plague is begun" The Bible records that Aaron stood between the dead and the living and the plague was stayed.

In 1817 the Eders Papyrus, a medical scroll over 870 feet long, was discovered. dating back to 1500 B.C. the scroll included over 800 different herbal prescriptions and remedies. Many of the remedies contained myrrh and honey. Myrrh is still recognized for its ability to help with infections of the skin, and throat and to regenerate skin tissue. Because of its effectiveness in preventing bacterial growth, myrrh was used for embalming.

Ancient cultures found that aromatic essences or oils could be extracted from plant by a variety of methods. One of the oldest and crudest forms of extraction was known as enfleurage. Raw plant material (usually stems, foliage, dark or roots) was crushed and mixed with olive oil or animal fat. Other vegetable oils were also used. In the case of cedar for example, the bark was stripped from the trunk and branches, ground into a powder, soaked with olive oil, and placed in a wool cloth. The cloth was then heated. The heat pulled the essential oil out of the bark particles into the olive oil, and the wool was pressed to extract the essential oil.

Today science has shown how the human blood share several common properties: They fight infection, contain hormone-like compounds, and initiate regeneration. Working as the chemical defense mechanism of the plant, essential oils posses potent antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral properties. They ward off attacks by insects and animals. The ability of some essential oils to work as hormones helps them bring balance to many physiological systems of the human body.

Like us humans are life line is the blood that flows inside of us. The essential oils are the vital fluids of plants that are their life line. They are called "essential" because they are necessary for the life of the plant and contain the "essence" of the plant. Ezekiel 47:12 And the fruit thereof shall be for meat and the leaf thereof for medicine.

Scientists at Tufts University have developed a scale for the U.S. Department of Agriculture called (ORAC=Oxygen Radical Absorption Capacity.)The higher the ORAC score, the more capable that particular food or oil is of destroying free radicals, thus retarding the aging process and preventing cancers and other diseases.

ORAC Scores For Essential Oils

Cinnamon 103,448

Roses Of Sharon (cistus) 38,624

Sandalwood (Aloes) 1,655

Clove 10,786,875

Essential oils have the highest ORAC scores of all substance in the world. An ounce of clove oil has the antioxidant capacity of 450 pounds of carrots, 120 quart of blueberries or 48 gallons of beet juice.

Bruce Tainio of Tainio Technology in Cheny, Washington developed equipment to measure the bio-frequency of humans and foods. The body was found to have a normal vibrational range between 62 and 68 megahertz (MHZ).Below 58 MHZ cold, and few symptoms can develop. Cancers develop when the body's frequency falls to around 42 MHZ. By applying an essential oil with a particular frequency to the human body, the oil's higher frequency will raise the vibratory quality of that individual. Thus, the plants therapeutic properties create special vibrational remedies capable of healing or rebalancing the body/mind/spirit .If a person is holding negative thoughts will lower the frequency 12 MHZ, positive thoughts raised by 10 MHZ and prayer raises the vibration even higher by 15 MHZ. This proves that prayers can change the energy and enhance the effectiveness.

God knew what he was doing when he created the world and all living things. So this means God was the first aromatherapist long before the word or concept was articulated by humans .
